Organ in the Centre: Of Heaven and Earth

16 May 2026, 07.30 p.m.
Liszt Academy - Grand Hall
1061 Budapest, Liszt Ferenc tér 8.

Organist Dóra Pétery and the Trio Passacaglia – featuring Judit Rajk, László Kéringer and Tamás Zétényi – present a program uniquely designed for the acoustics and spirit of the Liszt Academy’s Grand Hall. Their concert takes inspiration from the Gospel of John (3:12): “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” – a verse that beautifully frames the dialogue between the celestial and the earthly. The program traces this theme across centuries, beginning with the artistic rebirth of the 14th-century early Renaissance, and moving through arrangements of works by György Ligeti and Béla Bartók, the two giant 20th-century Hungarian composers, before arriving at contemporary Hungarian compositions. Among these, several world premieres by Barnabás Dukay, a long-time collaborator of the ensemble, will be performed. Dóra Pétery, a versatile keyboard artist, will perform large-scale and emblematic works on the Grand Hall’s Voit organ, harpsichord, and organetto (the small portable organ popular between the 13th and 16th centuries), bridging heaven and earth and offering a profound musical meditation on what connects the two.
