Nature awakens in spring, and as we approach the Ides of March, the first part of the Budapest Philharmonic Society's chamber music concert promises the "awakening" of great composers, the unfolding of their youth, as we gain insight into the chamber music workshops and early attempts at winging it of the young Beethoven and Schubert, as well as the young Weiner and Kodály, through emblematic string trios, and get to know works that were milestones for their composers.

The second half of the concert features a piano trio, an excerpt from Mendelssohn's popular, passionate Trio in D minor, preceded by a rare transcription for violin and piano of the opera composer Wagner's emotional piano piece, and a recent discovery of the exciting violin-bass duo David and Goliath by Erkel and Bartók-Pásztory Prize-winning composer Zoltán Kovács.

The poems and prose passages are brought to life in the voice of Jászai Mari Prize-winning actress Judit Schell, while music historian Endre Tóth brings the composers' characters closer to the audience.
