Douleur fermée dans la glace - Compositions by Gyula Bánkövi and Bence Kutrik
8 November 2024. 6:00 pm
Budapest Music Center - Library
1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8.
Apart from a few resolved moments, the evening is united by the sorrow and pain of passing. It is not only the titles of the compositions that indicate the gloom of life, but also their musicality. The title of the concert, which is also the title of the first piece to be performed at the evening, will be familiar to those who have read Karel Schultz's book on Michelangelo Buonarotti, entitled Pain Encased in Stone. The leitmotif of the evening is also water, which appears in different colours and states of matter. And what links the compositions - and the composers - is that many of them were created in almost the same place, Dunabogdány, where both composers work, with their "workshops" only a few 10 meters away from each other. The two composers will be present at the concert, and will tell the audience about the history of the pieces themselves.
