From Earth to Sky – Songs of Centuries – Concert by Duo ARRA

The joint production of the two artists, Duo ARRA, examines the role of folklore and folk songs in the context of classical and contemporary music. The two musicians, who come from different musical backgrounds, began their collaboration in 2023 and gave their debut concert at the ISON cultural space in 2024. Their program, From Earth to Sky – Songs of Centuries, is based on works by Hildegard von Bingen, John Dowland, Maurice Ravel, Manuel de Falla and János Bali, accompanied by authentic Hungarian folk songs and Hungarian-language Gregorian chants selected by László Dobszay. The aim of their program is to explore how musical works from different eras and genres influence each other. Their performance intertwines tradition and modernity, opening up new dimensions for the audience through the interplay of different styles and musical worlds – a musical space where folk values and contemporary artistic approaches coexist in harmony.
