150 years of the Liszt Academy Library - Festive concert
27 November 2025 6:00 pm.
Old Academy of Music - Chamber Hall
1064 Budapest, Vörösmarty utca 35.
The program of the festive concert is closely linked to the history and unique, rich collection of the Library, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary together with the Academy of Music. The concert also pays tribute to the institution's former great teachers and patrons of the library, whose works, performed during the evening, sometimes reflect on each other. The opening number, for example, is a four-hand transcription of an excerpt from Leó Weiner's Serenade Op. 3, originally written for a small orchestra and dedicated to his teacher, Hans Koessler, a rare score of which can be found in the valuable Weiner estate preserved in the Research Library. The concert closes with the 19th Hungarian Rhapsody by Ferenc Liszt, the founding president of the institution, who laid the foundations of the library with his valuable donation and later his estate. The work was composed in 1885 in the former building of the Academy of Music, which served as the venue for the concert. The evening's performers are László Borbély and Ferenc János Szabó, two outstanding piano teachers at the institution, soprano Luca Dolhai, a second-year student in the master's program in oratorio and song singing and runner-up in the Opera House's first singing competition this year, and young pianist Ádám Király, winner of the Great Piano Masters Online International Piano Competition.
