From 1980 he studied at the Győr Music Conservatory, and in 1982 he won first prize in the National Youth Piano Competition. In 1984, he entered the Liszt Academy of Music where he studied piano and composition under György Nádor and György Kurtág. In 1989, he won third prize in the Porto International Piano Competition and in 1990 he was awarded the Van Cliburn-Liszt Scholarship to study at the Texas Christian University for three years. Also in that year, he won the Hemphill Wells Sorrantin International Music Competition. In 1991, he won first prize at the Oklahoma Symphony International Competition and also won the London Performance Award at the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition in California. In 1992, he won third prize at the Ima Hogg National Competition. He has performed all over Europe, in the U.S.A. and Japan and has appeared with such orchestras as the Academy of London Chamber Orchestra, the Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg, and the Fort Worth Symphony. He has also participated in master classes with such artists as Tamás Vásáry, Viktor Merzsanov, Dimitri Baskirov and Andre Watts.
