Viktor Hárs was born in 22 of August, 1966. He started his musical studies at age of 15, on double bass and bass guitar simultaneously. From 1985 till 1988 he was studying at the Jazz Department of Béla Bartók Music Conservatory.
Between 1989 and 1992 he played mostly abroad, on cruise ships and hotels around the world, in more than 30 countries. Since then he is one of the busiest bass players in Hungary, he played with almost every jazz musician in concerts, festivals or recording sessions. He played also with some foreign musicians for example with Ernie Wilkins, Tony Scott, Ed Thigpen, Herbie Mann, Didier Lockwood, Dean Brown, Al Jarreau, David Liebman, Peter Erskine, Al DiMeola, Trilok Gurtu, Johnny Griffin. He participated in countless theatre and film music recordings too. Some jazz festivals which he played on: Vienna, Nürnberg, Zagreb, Trieste, Varsaw, Sofia, Bangkok, Pattaya, Marseille, Eilat.
In 1997, he released his first solo album with his originals, it was called Yellow. One year later he recorded his second CD, titled Contacts & Conflicts. Nowadays he is the member of following bands: Babos Project Special, Horgas Eszter Class & Jazz, Hobo Blues Band. Formerly as a member of Budapest Jazz Orchestra he was a composer and arranger of the big band. Amongst other pieces, this band recorded and released his 5-movement piece, the Barbed Wire Child. He also writes music and lyrics for theatres, singers, different music groups and last but not least, for his own band, the Hárshegy, which plays contemporary pop-jazz.
