Bálint Horváth was born in 1986 in Budapest. He plays at the piano since he was 7 years old. Between 2000 and 2004, he studied at the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music and after that he began composer studies in the class of István Fekete Győr. In 2004, he was the winner of the National Composer Competition. In spring of the same year he graduated and won the Péter Robitsek Memorial Prize.
Between 2004 and 2010, he was a student of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, as a pupil of György Orbán. In the spring of 2007, he became second at the contest of the University of Theatre and Film Arts, in September he appeared at the Gaudeamus Contemporary Music Festival in Amsterdam and in November at the Old Music Academy, after that at the Juilliard School in NY, his piece called „Naplójegyzetek”(Notes) piped up.
In the April of 2009 at his graduation concert, his piano works, orchestrated song cyles and his piece called „Three pieces to Orchestra” was at the center of the graduation and the last one was presented by The Radio Orchestra. In 2010, he got an honoured diploma. In his dissertation he focused on the late piano works of Ferenc Liszt.
His interest in literature especially in the last years drove him to the genre of songs accompanied by piano. Beside the songs, his solo and chamber works appeared at the professorship concerts and at the contemporary Hungarian forums. For exaple at the Contemporary Youth Music Nights (2004, 2006, 2007), at the Budapest Autumn Festival (2005, 2006, 2007), at the Savaria Bartók Festival (2008), at the István Vántus Contemporary Days in Szeged (2009), at the Béla Bartók Memorial House’s : Music Academy of Bartók series (2009) and in the Hungarian Radio (2005). He is a frequented displayer of his own works especially with piano.
Since the fall of 2010 he is a doctorate student at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. His guide and mentor is Zoltán Jeney.
