FUGA TRIO | BACH, BALOGH, MENDELSSOHN
26 April 2024. 6:00 pm
Budapest Music Center - Library
1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8.
The Fuga Trio was formed in 2019 on the occasion of a concert tour in France, with Morgane de Lafforest, Imre Dani and Máté Bán. The ensemble is equally committed to performing original flute-cello-piano repertoire, works by Hungarian contemporary composers and transcriptions of music for other ensembles.
Bach's work originally survived in two versions: as a sonata for viola da gamba with obbligato harpsichord accompaniment, and as a trio sonata for two flutes or violins and basso continuo. In this concert, the work is performed as a combination of these two versions.
Máté Balogh composed his work to the poem "If" by the English poet Rudyard Kipling in 2016, commissioned by the Karl-Amadeus-Hartmann Society in Munich.
The violin solo of Mendelssohn's famous Trio in D minor was transcribed for flute by the composer himself at the request of the London-based Ewer publishing house.
