Bán Máté

Máté Bán was born in Baja and attended secondary music school in Kecskemét (2006-2010, Kodály Zoltán Secondary Music School).He was admitted to the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest in 2010, where he studied at the class of Erika Sebők and János Bálint and graduated in 2015. While still at the Academy, he became a member of Concerto Budapest.
He has been a prize-winner at several national and international music competitions, including the International Flute Competition of the Polish Flute Festival (Sieadz) and the Friedrich Kuhlau International Flute Competition, in the category of flute duo with Lívia Duleba. He has been a recipient of scholarships from the Dongszan Foundation and Erste Bank, and a grantee of the New Europe Foundation. He spent one semester in Germany on an Erasmus scholarship.
He was awarded the Gundel Art Prize in 2012 and the Junior Prima Prize in 2014.
He has attended masterclasses by Emmanuel Pahud, James Galway, András Adorján, Felix Renggli, Christian Studler, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Radovan Vlatkovic, András Keller, János Bálint, Zoltán Gyöngyössy and István Matuz, among others.
From 2015 he taught at the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen for two years. He has also played with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra, and after a successful audition he was given the opportunity to play for one year with the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig. He is a founding member of the Ludium Ensemble, Musiciennes Libres and the Weiner Ensemble.
