Concert by the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra on the occasion of the Day of National Unity

2 June 2024 07:30 pm.
Carmelite Monastery
1014 Budapest, Színház utca 1.

The soloists Teo Gertler and Réka Kristóf are two exceptional talents, both of whom came to the spotlight as discoverers of the Virtuosi Talent Show. The concert will open with Sándor Veress' sparkling Four Transylvanian Dances, followed by one of Jenő Hubay's most beloved pieces, Preghiera - a beautiful, emotional aria for violin. Liszt's paraphrase of The Three Gypsies also evokes the virtuoso playing of Ede Reményi, followed by Kodály works that convey the joy of making music, singing and the heritage of folk songs. Finally, the finale of the concert is Dohnányi's Serenade, which both transports us back to the world of classical serenades and shows how the composer makes the many musical traditions of past centuries and his own present his own.
