21 September 2024. 6:00 pm
Budapest Music Center - Library
1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8.

An important, though little known, area of the 18th century German song-genre is the so-called Clavier song. It is a work with keyboard accompaniment in which the Clavier is mentioned in the text and in fact the instrument plays an important role in the verse. The word Clavier or Klavier always refers to the keyboard instrument which, thanks to its expressiveness, was the most popular among professional and amateur musicians of the age of Empfindsamkeit. Our selection includes songs with either lyrics or music by female composers. Among the composers are some of the better known names, such as Johann Philipp Kirnberger and Johann Friedrich Reichardt. The songs will be separated by their compositions for keyboard.
