Sándor Szilvágyi was born in Budapest, in 1964. He started to learn to play the guitar in 1979, first alone, between 1985 and 1988 with Zoltán Tokos at the Debrecen Faculty of the Franz Liszt Music Academy. Later he continued his studies in Vienna with Walter Würdinger. He was assistant professor of the Debrecen Faculty of the Liszt Academy between 1990 and 1997, and has been teaching since 1996 in the Béla Bartók Music Secondary School. In addition to an active concert career in Hungary, he has performed in Croatia, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Spain and Great Britain. He is a frequent participant of concerts of the Componsensamble and Intermoduláció Chamber Groups.
