Percussionist Zsolt Sárkány was born in Győr in 1962 where he studied with László Váray. In 1980 he became a student at the Music Academy. He is a founder member of the Amadinda Percussion Ensemble and performed with the group from 1984 to 1991. He currently lives in Marcali where he teaches at the local music school. For ten years, he has led the Marcato Percussion Ensemble which is made up from students at the school. This group has won national competitions and festivals. Many of Zsolt Sárkány’s students have also become professional musicians, continuing their studies in Debrecen and Basel.
