Antónia Bodó was born in Debrecen in 1974. She began her musical studies at the Zoltán Kodály Secondary School of Music, and in 1998 she earned a degree in violin performance with summa cum laude honors from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, where she studied under Ferenc Halász, Dénes Kovács, Márta Gulyás and Sándor Devich. She has won prizes at numerous domestic and international violin and chamber music competitions.
From 1996 to 1998, during her college years, she served as concertmaster of the Jeunesse Musicales World Orchestra and the Danubia Youth Orchestra. As a participant in the Verbier Festival, she had the opportunity to work with world-renowned conductors, including Sir Neville Mariner and Kurt Masur, as a section leader and concertmaster. She served as concertmaster of the Sándor Frigyes Chamber Orchestra and the Danubia Symphony Orchestra, as well as second violin section leader of the MATÁV Symphony Orchestra. She has been a member of the Akadémia String Quartet since 1998. Until 2009, she was the leader of the second violin section of Concerto Budapest.
She has participated in master classes led by—and worked under the guidance of—such renowned Hungarian and international masters as Eszter Perényi, Dénes Zsigmondy, Lóránd Fenyves, Reiner Schmidt, András Kiss, Vilmos Szabadi, Kurt Masur, Sir Neville Marriner, Armin Jordan, Yehudi Menuhin, Yuri Temirkanov and Ádám Fischer.
As a soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster, she has toured throughout Europe and Asia. She has given numerous solo concerts in Hungary, as well as in England and Germany. She has performed in Japan, Germany, Spain, Greece, and Slovakia, appearing at the world’s greatest concert halls and festivals, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, London’s Royal Albert Hall, and La Scala in Milan. She has been a member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra since 2009. In addition, she is a member of the Ventoscala Sinfonietta creative workshop and a collaborator with the Telecommunications Music Foundation.
