He made his operatic debut at the Szeged National Theatre. He has been permanent guest singer at the Hungarian State Opera since 1986, which date also marks the start of his international career. After visiting at leading Western European and American opera houses he was invited to the New York Metropolitan for three roles. The artist of an excellent comic vein has done a lot to raise the popularity of opera in Hungary. He has already sung all the greatest roles of the bass-repertoire: Sarastro, Bluebeard, King Philip, Basilio, Leporello, , Baron Ochs, Osmin, Gremin, Dulcamara, Don Pasquale, Falstaff, Mephisto, Boris Godunov, King Pomádé. He has sung the bass part of Mozart's Requiem, Jesus in Bach's St. John Passion. He won international fame in the buffo bass cue, in the last years he performed in the opera houses in Antwerp, Baltimore, Denver, Houston, Portland, Rome and Trieste.
