Judit Németh completed her early musical studies in Miskolc where she studied piano and singing. In 1981, she was admitted to the Franz Liszt Music College where she obtained first a vocal teaching diploma in 1986 and then an opera singing diploma in 1988. She studied throughout with Professor Éva Kurucz. In 1990, she began studying with Ilona Adorján. She has made numerous recordings, among them Handel´s St John Passion which won ´´Record of the Year´´ in 1988. She won a four year Philharmonia scholarship which enabled her to work with some distinguished conductors, such as Lamberto Gardelli, Helmut Rilling, Antál Doráti, Nicholas MacGegan and Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi. Judit Németh also won a scholarship to study at the Stuttgart Bach Academy and the Vienna Academy. In 1989, she won the special prize at the Barcelona Vinas International Singing Competition. She joined the Hungarian State Opera in 1990 and in 2002, enjoyed an immense success in the role of Waltraute from Die Göterdammerung in Beyreuth. In 2003, she made her debut as Ortrud from Lohengrin. She has taught at the Győr Music College since 1987. Her repertoire extends from Baroque, Classical and Romantic oratorio, lieder and naturally, operatic mezzo-soprano roles as well. She was awarded with Merited Artist Prize in 2014.
