Péter Horváth was born in Balassagyarmat, Hungary in 1984. He started his music education in the local Mark Rózsavölgyi School of Music at the age of 11, his teachers were Miklós Lados and Laszló Szabó. After four years, he attended to St. Stephen King Secondary School of Music in Budapest, his teacher was Gábor Devich. He won the first prize at the Millenium Competition of the School. In 2001 he got 3rd, in 2003 1st prize (furthermore the 2 Special Prizes as well) at the Hungarian National Clarinet Competition in Győr.

Péter Horváth graduated (as the student of Prof Béla Kovács) with a degree in classical clarinet from the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary, as a master of music in performance clarinet and teacher in 2008. He has been a member of the Zugló Philharmonic Orchestra in Budapest from 1999 (principal clarinet). Peter got the „Annie Fischer scholarship” in 2009, 2011 and 2014.
