Born in Tirgu Mures (Romania), András Vass started to learn music in his native town and studied later conducting at the prestigous Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, with Ervin Lukács és Tamás Gál. Still a student of the Academy, he conducted several symphony orchestras in Roumania and in Hungary. András Vass is Iván Fischer's assistant at the Budapest Festival Orchestra in the 2005/2006 season. Since 2009 autumn he has been the conductor and assistant of music director of the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra.
