Horváth 'Tojás' Gábor
keyboards
Born in June 1978 in Budapest. He attended Music Elementary School where he sang in the choir and also started to play the piano at the age of seven.
He graduated from VMG high school with a drama major and learned all from the greatest hungarian jazz pianists like Zsolt Kaltencker and Károly Binder. In his style you can always recognize mixing elements of Joey Calderazzo`s in & out sheer agressiveness of attack, combining with a lyrical melodic and harmonic adventurism of classical romanticism! His compositions gives plenty of space for exploration in the realms of Latin, crossover-jazz or Hungarian folk music, remaining all along within the field of contemporary jazz.
In 1998, he formed Tropical TransForm Quintet.
They released two strong debut albums and played many Jazz Festivals and clubs around Europe. The musical telepathy among this five people are very special when they`re improvising with explosive power and excellent technique.
In the years to develop their own sound they have mixed in elements of many roots of modern jazz like
Joey Calderazzo, Michel Camilo, Michael Brecker or while this organic style is based on their sophisticated taste and played with special talent and joy.
