Rákos László
horn
László Rákos (1970) in the beginning of his musical studies, at the age of five, he started to play the violin and changed for the horn when he was eleven.
He studied at Béla Bartók Conservatory and Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, with professor Tibor Beleznay and Ádám Friedrich. From 1985 to 1992 he was solo horn player in Ernst von Dohnányi Youth Symphony Orchestra and from 1988 member of the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra, where, since 1990 he played first horn.
He graduated in 1993, already as member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra, where he played first and second horn from 1992 to 2ooo. Since 1989 he has also been member of the "Componensemble" specialized in contemporary music.
In 1992 he was awarded the first prize of the "Philip Farkas" Horn Competition in Budapest and won second prize at the Japan Horn Society's Solo Horn Competition in Japan in 1995.
Since September of 2000 he is solo horn of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
