Tihamér Hlavacsek, pianist made his New York debut in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 2003, where his playing was compared to the young Emil Gilels’. He performed in the world’s most prominent concert halls, such as Gewandhaus (Leipzig), Konzerthaus (Berlin), Chatelet Theater (Paris). He also appeared in Boston, Washington, Vienna, Rome, Milan and other European countries on his tours.

He performed with great success in Euro Musica Vitae 2000 television festival, to where he was elected as one of the two pianists from Europe, where Peter Frankl discovered his talent. Among his further festival invitations can we find Europa Musicale 2004, Como Autumn Festival, European Piano Forum, Cliburn Piano Institute, Fazioli Piano Festival, Savaria Interforum, Budapest Music Weeks, Budapest Spring Festival.

He gave recital in Eastern Piano Festival the leaders and permanent soloists of which are Adrienne Hauser and Zoltan Kocsis.He gave concerts with Danubia Youth Symphony Orchestra -in Hungary and abroad- under the boton of Domonkos Heja and with the Nations’ Orchestra with Justus Frantz.

He won numerous first prizes at national and international piano competitions (Andor Földes, Gandolfi, Triest). He has been the Soloist of the Hungarian Radios since 1998 and supported young artist of Glaxo Smithkline since winning its competition in 2002.

His recordings can be heard in the Hungarian Radio, the National Public Radio of the United States, the Hungarian Television, the Duna Television and the Swedish Radio and Television.

As a promising young artist he was participant of a portrait film about Zoltan Kocsis and of a documentary (The Hungarian Touch, 2001).

Recently he is working on the recording of complete piano works of Karl Goldmark for Hungaroton, which is going to be a „World Premiere” 1st recording cycle.

He attended Béla Bartók Conservatory and Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest as a student of Professors Zoltán Benkő, Sándor Falvai and Sándor Devich and Yale University in Peter Frankl’s class.
