Éva Bátori was born on the 27th of November, 1963 in Makó (Hungary). She studied at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music then was admitted to the opera studio of the Staatsoper in Vienna.
In 1992 she was signed on by the Opera of Leipzig, in 1995 by the Opera of Cologne. She performed several times in Frankfurt, Hanover and in some other European musical theatres. The German television made a series of Mozart operas (Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro) with her participation. She appeared in the role of Michaela in the Carmen production of the Bregenz Festival, and rendered Desdemona in Verdi's Otello, in St. Margarethen, Austria.
She was on tour many times in Japan, among others with the Vienna Staatsoper, the Wiener Mozart Orchester, and also with the Hungarian State Opera Ensemble. The Opera House in Beijing was opened with the Vienna Staatsoper’s performance of Le nozze di Figaro performance, in which she sang the role of the countess with great success.
She was a regular guest in the United States, in the role of Tosca in Seattle, and as Minnie from La fanciulla del West, and gave concerts in Philadelphia and in Avery Fisher Hall in New York.
In addition to her singing career, she is also active in professional and public life: she is the founder of the Petrovics Singing Competition, and the professional and artistic director of the Opera Festival of the Makó Arts Cathedral, the Danube Bend Arts Festival, the Ambassador Programme and OpeRajt Programme of the Hungarian State Opera House and the World Day of Voice (WVD). She left the stage with the role of Minni (Puccini: Daughter of the West).
In addition to singing, teaching has become an increasingly important part of her life. Since 2013 she has been the appointed lecturer of the Hungarian State Opera House. She was also a vocal coach at the Budapest University of Theatre and Film Arts for 10 years, then taught in Vienna, where she was an associate professor at a private university for five years, later returned home to teach at the University of Szeged (BBMK) for four years.
Since 2021, she has been the head of the private singing department at the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen, and a lecturer at the Department of Voice, Speech and Language Therapy at Semmelweis University. In 2025 she was elected a member of the Society of Immortals.
