He started his cello studies at the age of eight. At the Béla Bartók Highschool of Music he was a student of László Szilvásy. Later he has studied at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy as a student of Tamás Koó (cello), Ferenc Rados and György Kurtág (chamber music); he graduated with award.

Between 1990 and 92 he studied baroque music in the Royal Conservatory of the Hague (Jaap ter Linden) and received an artist's degree. In the Salzburg Mozerteum he was studying chamber music from Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

He was a member of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra between 1987 and 92. He is a founder of a number of early music groups (Concerto Armonico, Trio Christofori and is a cello soloist of some world-famous baroque groups such as: Le Concert des Nations, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Wiener Akademie. As a soloist he has been playing in most of the European countries as well as in Argentina and Brazil. He has recorded all the cello concertos by C.Ph. E. Bach (Hungaroton), the cello concerto by G.M.Monn (Virgin) and the concertos by Vivaldi (Vanguard Classic).

He is a permanent professor at the annual Attersee Barock Akademie in Austria. In 1995 he has founded his own group Aura Musicale.
