He commenced his musical studies at the age of 6, when he began the violin. He later studied the double-bass with Lajos Montág, under whom he graduated from the Budapest Ferenc Liszt Music Academy in 1969. He took part in many double-bass masterclasses and seminars. He gained a certificate from Ludwig Streichers course. He enjoyed success at various international double-bass competitions (Geneva, Markneukirchen). Since 1964 he has worked as an orchestral musician. In 1967 he became a member of the orchestra of the Hungarian Opera House. He regularly performs as a soloist and in chamber music concerts, both in Hungary and abroad. In 1989, he was a guest in London where he held a masterclass. He regularly appears on Hungarian Radio and Televison, where he has made many recordings. He has also recorded for foreign radio stations, including the BBC, the WDR in Cologne, as well as radio stations in Switzerland and Austria.
