East Side Jazz Company
Orchestra, choir, ensemble
The East Side Jazz Company is a formation that came to life with the extension of the Ágnes Lakatos Trio. It is the expressed aim of the ensemble to create a unique sound by breaking away from the American jazz traditions and employing Eastern European and Balkan melodies and rhythmic patterns. The instrumentation also supports this objective: the cimbalom, the violin and wind instruments used in folk music have an important role in the band. The ESJC frequently plays in clubs and festivals in Hungary.
