Remarks, other info
"Composed on demand for Ákos Dratsay on Piccolo and piano, the work is based upon the liturgical lines found in Greek Orthodox rituals: “We need not fear evil for You, my God, are with me. You, oh mighty Lord, are my strength; you, the God of Peace and the Lord of all for ages to come.” What begins as no more than a whispered prayer, the music gradually grows into a woeful lament, eventually developing into an all- out vocal plea for guidance. Based on a three-part form entitled a Song without a Text, the composition was initially devised for piccolo and piano in 2014. Adapting the part originally called Witch’s Sabbath Sound set, the new interpretation has given it a positive spin, using it as a counterpoint to the theme. (Árpád Solti)
