He studied music under Rezső Sugár and Ferenc Farkas, and in composition workshops abroad. His work extendes medieval music, folklore, jazz, animation, electro-acoustics and electronic music. A teacher and performer he was also involved in musical workshops in Hungary and abroad. Musically his work manifests itself in concentrated eaboration within the strict sphere of rules and scales of value he set himself; the diversity of his works provides evidence of catholic musical interests. Since 1978 Székely no longer appears in public.
