József Botos was born October 31, 1981. On the inspiration of his father he began to play the guitar At age of 11. He studied classical guitar at István Pap, later at Ede Roth and jazz guitar at István Gyárfás. He has won prizes at several national and international guitar competitions:

- International Guitar Festival, Esztergom - special prize of Tamás Vásáry
- National Guitar Competition in Vác - I. prize
- National Guitar Competition in Szeged - II prize
- Jazz Guitar Competition of Hungarian radio - III. prize
- International Guitar Competition in Weimar eny - IV. prize
- International Guitar Competition in Kutna Hora - IV. prize
He perfomed at several national festivals, made more radio- and TV recordings. He wants to continue his musical studies at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy, Budapest.
