He was pupil of Professor Ferenc Gergely and István Szelényi at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He attended the improvising course of Marcel Dupré in 1963 and the master course of Fernando Germani in 1972.

Beside the most important places in Hungary, he gave concerts in Austria, England, Finland, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. He held many courses in Budapest, Győr, Ratzeburg and at the Vienna Music Academy. From 1963 he was organist of Saint Stephen’s Basilica and the art director of the organ concerto summer series. He taught organ and composing at the Choir Master Training Institute.

His oeuvre consists mainly of sacred music compositions. His works (CD-, radio- and TV-recordings) are well-known beyond Europe as well. Some of his orchestral works were introduced at the Assisi Music Festival: two symphonies, his composition on Saint Francis’ Hymn to the Sun, and his Organ concerto.

In 1982 he was honored with the Pro Arte Assisi Award and the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Republic.
