The concert programme is based, on the one hand, on József Sári’s chamber and solo works for a variety of instruments, and, on the other, on the premieres of short pieces composed in his memory. Sári was a defining figure in 20th- and 21st-century Hungarian music, both as a composer and as a teacher. His works are performed not only in Hungary but throughout Europe, particularly in Germany. His pedagogical work was held in equally high regard: until his retirement, he taught generations of musicians at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music and the Liszt Academy, Budapest, as well as serving as a visiting professor on masterclasses. He has received numerous honours both in Hungary and abroad.
