The successful screening series of the the Estonian Institute presenting the numerous links between Arvo Pärt’s music and cinema is to be continued in 2016. Pärt’s music inspired numerous film directors from Jean-Luc Godard through Tom Tykwer. The first screeing of the new year features the Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning film by Paolo Sorrentino.

Italian-French drama, 2013, 141 min.

Jep Gambardella has seduced his way through the lavish nightlife of Rome for decades, but after his 65th birthday and a shock from the past, Jep looks past the nightclubs and parties to find a timeless landscape of absurd, exquisite beauty.

Beside Arvo Pärt’s work My Heart’s in the Highlands the soundtrack has another Estonian aspect,  Beata Viscera, performed by Tallinn-based vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis.

The screening will be introduced by film- and music critic László Kolozsi (in Hungarian).
