CHAMBER RECITAL BY GYÖNGYI UJHÁZI AND GÁBOR MONOSTORI 2/1
17 June 2024. 6:00 pm
Budapest Music Center - Library
1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8.
The two concerts of Gyöngyi Ujházi (cello) and Gábor Monostori (piano) are based around composers who, in addition to their private lives, were also allies in their professional lives as musicians. But the relationship between Johann Sebastian and Anna Magdalena Bach, and Robert and Clara Schumann, is not unconnected to the roles that society of the time expected of a married man and woman.
On the first evening of the series, the (married) couple will offer an insight into the relationship between Johann Sebastian and Anna Magdalena Bach through Bach's gambasonatas and short interludes between the programmes. They will also perform two pieces by Péter Tornyai: a new version of a work originally written for solo cello and dedicated to his wife, and a cello-piano duo.
