“Flows and Transformations” - Anna Pintér and Luca Kovács
31 May 2026, 06:00 p.m.
FUGA Budapest Center of Architecture
1052 Budapest, Petőfi Sándor utca 5.
The program invites us on an imaginary journey that leads from the depths toward the light. The opening piece, Ian Clarke’s Deep Blue, evokes the world of the deep sea with the mystical atmosphere of the whales’ song. From this underwater space, we rise toward the surface with Ákos Zarándy’s piece Confluence, which - as a world premiere - captures the experience of convergence and encounter, as if by connecting the different layers and meanings of water.
Upon reaching the surface, Ian Clarke’s piece The Great Train Race transports us into the dynamic world of the land, with the energy of a speeding train. From there, Máté Vizeli’s Székely-Csángó Fantasy whisks us into a dance hall atmosphere, where folk music and the communal experience take center stage.
The program then quiets down: York Bowen’s preludes create a lyrical, introspective moment, setting the stage for André Jolivet’s Chant de Linos, a musical representation of an ancient funeral rite - a peculiar unity of mourning and ritual dance.
At the end of the concert, Ian Clarke’s piece Orange Dawn brings a sense of elevation: the journey concludes in the light of sunrise, leading from the dark depths to hopeful heights.
