Csík Laura was born into a musical family in Miskolc, Hungary in 1965, and has been playing the piano since the age of five. She studied at the Béla Bartók Music High School and at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music under Zoltán Kocsis and Kornél Zempléni. She has won a number of prizes at various piano competitions in Hungary and abroad. In 1983 she received the first prize at the Hungarian Television’s Youth Cultural Competition, and two years later earned a diploma at the Warsaw International Chopin Piano Competition. In 1988 Ms.Csík was in the finals of the Montreal International Piano Competition, and in 1989 she received the first prize at the Dohnanyi Piano Competition organized by the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. She has concertized in Switzerland, Spain, Germany, the United States, Cuba and Canada.
