Piroska Vitárius graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest in 1994 with a degree in violin performance and teaching. She has participated in numerous early music courses throughout Europe (e.g., with István Kertész in Sopron, Nikolaus Harnoncourt in Salzburg, and Japp ter Linden in Utrecht). She taught Baroque violin and chamber music at the Faculty of Music of the University of Szeged and in master classes. She was a member of the Ferenc Erkel Chamber Orchestra, Concerto Armonico and Musica Profana, and was a founding member and concertmaster of the Orfeo Orchestra. Since 2000, she has been concertmaster of the Savaria Baroque Orchestra, led by Pál Németh; since 2009, she has been a member of the Tercina ensemble, which she founded, and a collaborator with numerous early music ensembles. She teaches Baroque violin at the Mária Ward Music High School in Budapest and the Early Music Summer University in Csíkszereda. She frequently performs in chamber music with harpsichordist Mária Fülöp, with whom she interprets the 16th–18th-century European and British Baroque repertoire. She is a soloist in concerts and CD recordings both in Hungary and abroad.
