She began her musical studies as a child, playing first piano and clarinet. She graduated from Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1989 as a singer. The programme of her final examination concert included the role of Silvana from Respighi's La Fiamma, which she also performed as an understudy in the Erkel Theatre two days later. She is regarded as a versatile lyric soprano and has won many prizes at international singing competitions.
In 1989 she became a member of the Hungarian State Opera where she made full use of her talent in a succession of choice roles (Pamina, Konstanza, Liu, Lauretta etc.). She spent some seasons in Germany in the early 1990s, and returned to Hungary in 1994. In the first part of her career she mainly sang coloratura soprano roles: Konstanza (Mozart: Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Lucia di Lammermoor, Gilda (Verdi: Rigoletto), Violetta (Verdi: Traviata). Recently she has been singing more and more jugenddramatisch and dramatic roles: Mimi (Puccini: La bohème), Cio-Cio San (Puccini: Madama Butterfly), Chrysothemis (R. Strauss: Elektra), Leonora (Verdi: La forza del destino), soprano solo (Verdi: Requiem).
