Attila Almási was born on August 12, 1972, in Hódmezővásárhely. He completed his musical studies at the local music school from 1982 to 1988, and then studied in Szeged from 1992 to 1994. Starting in 1999, he was a student in the jazz trombone program at the Jazz Department of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. In 2003, he earned a degree in jazz trombone performance and teaching. Since 1986, he has been a member of the Promenade Dixieland Band in Hódmezővásárhely, with which he has toured nearly every country in Europe, from Gran Canaria to Denmark. The city of Hódmezővásárhely honored the band with the PRO URBE Award for its cultural contributions.

Between 1999 and 2011, he was a musician with the Budapest Jazz Orchestra, and between 2002 and 2010, with the Ricardo Salsa Club. Since 2006, he has been the trombonist for the Group’n’ Swing band, as well as the coordinator of the band’s musical and stage presentations. Since 2007, he has been the solo trombonist for the Pénzügyőr Band and its Big Band section.

As a guest of the Molnár Dixieland Band, he toured the United States in 1999. In recent years, he has performed with numerous groups, including Beaver Combo, Besenyő Blues Band, Mama Killed a Chicken, Jazz Steps, the TEA Ensemble, and the Metró Ensemble. He has played with, among others, Gyula Deák Bill, Tibor Tátrai, Joe Murányi, Zsuzsa Cserháti, György Ferenczi, Charlie Horváth, Jackie Orszaczky, Péter Gerendás, László Komár, Gyula Vikidál, Sting, Zséda, Vera Tóth, and Viktor Király. He is a regular guest at renowned international jazz festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Cleveland Jazz Festival and the Eindhoven Jazz Festival.

In 2013, he won a Fonogram Award as a member of the band Group'n' Swing. He has contributed to several gold records and has also served as a judge for the Hungarian Radio Jazz Trombone Competition. In addition, he has published several articles in Zenész Magazin and on the Jazzma.hu website.
