Both parents being music pedagogues, they gave their seven children a broad music education, yet it was only after four years of university studies of English and Russian language and literature that she turned to serious studies in singing at the Budapest Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. After her graduation in 1984 she took a further short course with Prof. Vera Rózsa in London as well as repeated courses with Maestro Thomas Blum in Zürich. In the next three years she was member and soloist of the Budapest Radio Choir.
This was followed by contracts in various theatres in Hungary, appearing in leading roles such as Eboli, Carmen, Azcena, Santuzza, Dorabella. Her debut at the Budapest State Opera House was as Kundry in 1992, followed by Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte, Fricka in Rheingold, Eboli in Don Carlos, Brünnhilde in Die Walküre, Amneris in Aida and Judit in Bartók’s Bluebeard. She has sung the Bartók opera in concert with the Budapest Festival Orchestra in Athens and with the Cincinnati Symphony in the USA, in 1995 in Tokyo and Osaka, in Prague and at the 20th Music Biennale in Zagreb. She appears regularly in Hungarian concert life, doing main oratorio roles of Bach, Händel, Rossini, Verdi, Brahms, Mahler, etc.
