Horváth Marcell
saxophone, saxophone - baritone, clarinet
Marcell Horváth has begun his musical studies at the age of eight at the Music School of Sopron, Western part of Hungary. At first he studied piano, percussion and clarinet in the same time. In 1991 he won first prize at the National Clarinet Competition in Hungary. He continued to study the clarinet at the Béla Bartók Music Secondary School in Budapest from 1992 to 1996, than at the Franz Liszt Music Academy with Prof. Béla Kovács between 1996 and 2000, where he graduated in 2000.
During these years he has won many different prizes: in 1995 he was the second medalist at the Richter János National Clarinet Competition, in 1997 he was the winner of the Hungarian Music Academies' Clarinet Competition. In 2000 the Yamaha Company awarded him a scholarship.
He is the member of the Budapest Saxophone Quartet since 1998, he plays the baritone-saxophone.
