Szepesi Bence

His musical career started with winning first prize at the "Budapest Clarinet Competition" at age of 11, and special prize at the "National Clarinet Competition". In 1987, he was a soloist in Greece on the concert tour of the Aladar Toth Youth Symphony Orchestra.
He studied at the Béla Bartók Music Conservatory Budapest, than at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, where he graduated in 1997.
At the age of 19, he won 3rd prize in Gent (Belgium) at the Competition of the International Clarinet Association. In 1995, he won a scholarship to the "Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy", and the same year, he was the concertmaster of the WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles) International Wind Orchestra in Hamamatsu (Japan). In 1996, he won a special prize at the Osaka Chamber Music Competition (Japan), and also performed on a concert tour in Spain, Italy and France, with the Wind Orchestra of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music as a soloist.
He played many times with Symphonic, Wind, String and Chamber Orchestras (Mozart, Weber, R. Strauss, Horowitz, Artie Show, Marcello), and with string quartets (Mozart, Weber, Brahms). In 2001 he performed the Clarinet Concerto by Aaron Harlap (ISR) with the Ernő Dohnányi Symhony Orchestra - the recording of the concert was broadcasted in 12 different countries. In 2004, he performed "Psalm" , also by Aaron Harlap, accompanied by the Solti Chamber Orchestra, conducted by the composer. In 2002 he made a recording for the Hungarian Radio, he played the Clarinet Concerto by Balázs Horváth with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. He is the principal clarinettist of the Ernő Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra for 12 years.
He is the founder and artistic leader of the Budapest Saxophone Quartet. In 2004, they graduated at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse Paris, France. In 2005 Bence Szepesi was a member of the jury at the National Clarinet and Saxophone Competition, Hungary.
