He began to study piano at the age of six. Later he studied at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, from where he graduated in 1982. His teachers were Pál Kadosa, Ferenc Rados and György Kurtág. He was a post-graduate student in Moscow at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and in Dresden as a student of Professor Amadeus Webersinke. After finishing his studies, he taught at the Kodály School in Kecskemét between 1984 and 1991. At present he teaches piano at the Liszt Academy.
Mr. Kemenes has given numerous concerts throughout Hungary and abroad in such cities as Salzburg, Vienna, Dresden, Moscow and Helsinki. He reglularly plays piano duets with Gábor Csalog. Their repertoire includes the four-handed pieces of Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky and Kurtág. He has made various television and radio broadcasts in Budapest. He recently made a record of romantic chamber music with flutist Zoltán Gyöngyössy and cellist Otto Kertész (Radioton).
