Dr. Zoltán Kalmár graduated from the University of Szeged, then obtained his DLA degree in the research of András Szőllősy's chamber music for brass at the PTE Doctoral School of Arts under the supervision of Prof. Dr. István Péter Farkas. In addition to his activities as a performer, he also places great emphasis on education and talent management. In 2017, he founded the RÉZkARCOK contemporary music concert series, which aims to promote contemporary music works written for brass instruments.

It aims to develop its own and its students' instrumental skills, primarily in accordance with the technical requirements of contemporary music, as contemporary music as a novelty requires new ways of playing instruments. An important element in his pedagogy is the training, production and synthesis of the noble trombone sound in the musical literary sense. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts. First prize winner of the 2023 World Grand Prix Music and the Bach International Online Music Competition, as well as several international performing arts competitions. He is a teacher of trombone and tenor horn at the Béla Bartók SZKG and AMI in Békéscsaba.
