Csaba Fervágner was born in 1980 in Budapest. His mother, Judit Fervágnerné Kovács-Birkás (1955-2023), was a violin teacher at the Weiner Leó Music School and Music Secondary School AMI in Budapest. His wife, Katalin Farkas, is a member of the violin section of the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra and an appointed associate professor at the Béla Bartók Music Institute in Miskolc.

He started playing the viola da gamba at the age of 7 and enrolled in the 1997-98 school year at the Weiner Leó Secondary School of Music as a student of István Enreiter, majoring in bass. In 2000 he was admitted to the bass department of the Liszt Academy of Music and in 2005 he obtained his diploma as a teacher of the major bass at the Liszt Academy of Music as a student of Péter Kubina. His doctoral thesis was entitled "The Acoustics of the Double Bass" and his final DLA concert was held in spring 2015.

Csaba Fervágner has been a member of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2003, principal bass from February 2013, and from 2024 he has been an adjunct professor of double bass at the Béla Bartók Institute of Music at the University of Miskolc. In addition to his activities as a radio orchestra conductor, he was a member of several Hungarian symphony orchestras - from 2003 to 2006 he was a scholarship double bassist of the Matáv Symphony Orchestra (now Concerto Budapest), from 2006 to 2010 he was deputy principal bass of the Dohnányi Ernő Symphony Orchestra in Budafok.

Since 2014 he has taught at primary and secondary level in various institutions in Budapest. In 2014 he was a teacher at the Tata Bass Camp, between 2014 and 2016 at the Egressy Béni Reformed Secondary School in Budapest, and from 2017 to 2020 at the Farkas Ferenc AMI in the 1st district of Budapest.

His chamber activities are very varied, he has given contemporary solo recitals with chamber musicians and a violin and double bass duo recital with Katalin Farkas. Since 2019 he has been a regular performer in the chamber music series of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Editor of the nagybogo.hu website.
