Dávid Blaga was born in 2000 in Győr. He started playing the piano at the age of 8. In 2012 he was introduced to the bassoon and from then on he studied the two instruments in parallel. From 2015 to 2019 he continued his studies at the János Richter Music Secondary School in Győr, specialising in bassoon. His teacher in Győr was Magdolna Orlovits. He had the opportunity to play in the Symphonic Orchestra of the Győr Conservatory and in the Symphonic Band of the Széchenyi István University of Győr under the baton of Ferenc Szabó. He has performed with brass bands since he was in secondary school and has toured in several cities in Hungary, Romania, Croatia and the Netherlands.
In 2019, he was accepted to the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he studied with bassoon artists György Lakatos and István Harteinstein. He played with the Budapest Strings and regularly participated in projects at the university, taught by conductor Gergely Ménesi. He played together with violinist János Rolla and pianist János Balázs and was heard in the New World Symphony conducted by Pinchas Steinberg.
He has also played in several chamber ensembles, including piano-bassoon-oboe, piano-flute-bassoon, wind quintet, octet and string quartet. He participated in the Sophie Dervaux Masterclass in 2019 and in the Crescendo summer camp in 2020. He was also a regular participant in the summer courses of György Lakatos. He won the third place in the 2021 International Moscow Music-Online Competition.
Since January 2024, he has been a member of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra.
