Dobszay Péter

Peter Dobszay is one of the most active conductors and the most versatile musicians of his generation, he is the first organist of Dohany Street Synagogue and the Church of Holy Angels in Gazdagrét.
He graduated from Liszt Ferenc Music Academy of Budapest as organist and conductor, and he has attended many organist courses and the master conductor course of Eötvös Péter.
Dobszay conducts worldwide: he has performed with the orchestras of the Kyoto Music Festival in Japan, the Symphony Orchestra of the Mussorgsky Conservatory Ural in Russia, the Philharmonisches Orchester Altenburg-Gera in Germany and Oradea and Dinu Lipatti State Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania. He played the organ in prestigious venues such as the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, the Music Academy of Geneva and in Macedonia.
He has conducted numerous orchestras such as the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and he is a returning guest conductor at the Hungarian State Opera House, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, the Savaria Symphony Orchestra, the Szeged Symphony Orchestra, the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra and the MÁV Symphony Orchestra. In the season of 2018-2019 Dobszay debuted in the Danubia Orchestra Óbuda, the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok, the Zugló Philharmonic and the Duna Symphony Orchestra.
He was a finalist and Audience Prize winner of the Maestro Solti International Conducting Competition in 2017.
Dobszay believes that contemporary music is of vital importance in concert halls therefore he conducted many premieres and gladly conducts the concerts of the composer formation of STUDIO 5.
