Tamás Pálfalvi was born in 1991 in Salgótarján (Hungary). He began to play the trumpet at the age of 8 in 1998 at Gyula Váci Elementary Art School with István Szabó, then joined the Leó Weiner Conservatory of Music in Budapest in 2005 where he studied under Gábor Huszár. In 2009 he was awarded a scholarship for Bard College in New York, where he studied under Carl Albach and Edward Carroll until 2012. After Bard College he returned to Budapest where he was admitted to Franz Liszt Music Academy of Music. He received his Master's degree in May 2016 as a pupil of Gábor Boldoczki.
He has recived several prizes e. g. the National Trumpet Competition at the age of 15 as well as the Junior Prima Prize (2015), and Europian competitions. He was the first trumpet player who win the Bard College Concerto Competition.
His debut as a solo player was in 2008 with Prague Philharmonia. He has given concerts with artists and orchestras like Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Camerata Salzburg, Royal Philharmony Orchestra, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Christian Schmitt, Péter Eötvös, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, American Symphony, Fabio Luisi, Christoph Eschenbach, Zoltán Kocsis, Matthias Pintscher or Capella Savaria.
As the winner of the first Fanny-Mendelssohn-Förderpreis in 2015 he was able to publish his first recording Agitato with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra on the label Berlin Classics.
He has been a member of brass ensemble In Media Brass since 2018, and he has been appointed professor of trumpet at Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest since 2019. He was awarded with Artisjus Prize in December 2023.
