He was born in Kapuvár (South-Western Hungary) in 1955 and began to learn the clarinet in his native town. Having completed his studies at the Musical Ssecondary School of Győr, he was admitted in 1975 to the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he obtained his diploma in 1981. In 1980 he became member of the Orchestra of the Hungarian State Opera House. Since 1992 he has been member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra, playing on different kinds of clarinets and saxophones. To complement his work in the orchestra, he is a committed chamber musician and performs often as a soloist, both in concert halls, and on radio and television. He has been active in popularizing the "tárogató", an old Hungarian woodwind instrument. The label "Hungaraton" released in 1999 a solo CD presenting his art.
