Rita Wagner was born in 1946 in Csepreg (Hungary). She studied piano at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music under the guidance of Márta Kadosa Pálné Szabó and Edit Hambalkó. In 1969 she graduated from the piano department of the Budapest Teacher Training Institute of the Liszt Ferenc University of Music as a student of Miklós Máthé, and in 1972 she graduated from the piano department of the Liszt Ferenc University of Music as a pupil of Katalin Nemes.

From 1972 to 1974 she taught at the Secondary School of Music in Miskolc, from 1975 and 2005 at the Teacher Training Institute of the Liszt Ferenc University of Music, and from 1985 to 1997 at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music. She became a professor at the Liszt Ferenc University of Music in 2005, where she taught chamber music and piano in the class of extraordinary talents. From 2018 she was a Principal Professor of the Kronberg Academy Study Programmes together with her husband Ferenc Rados pianist (Sir András Schiff Performance Programme Young Pianists).

In addition to her regular teaching she frequently gave piano and chamber music courses for young musicians in Hungary. She has also held courses in Weimar, Utrecht, Basel, all across Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Vigo, Salamanca, Ávila, Segovia, Cadiz, Cordoba, Sevilla), and regularly teached at the IMS masterclasses, Prussia Cove.

She died in the 20st of August 2021.
