Gábor Devich took his degree at the Budapest Liszt Ferenc Music Academy under Béla Kovács. His chamber music teacher was György Kurtág.
He was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado, and of the Camerata Academica Salzburg under Sándor Végh, he also played as a substitut in the Mozarteum Orchestra. He was a clarinetist of the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra between 1988 and 2019.
Presently he works with talented young musicians as a clarinet and chamber music teacher at the Bartók Béla Conservatory Budapest and the Szent István Conservatory Budapest. He regularly gives concerts with several chamber music formations on many podiums all over Europe, Japan and Australia.
In 1997, 2006, 2007 and 2022 he was member of the jury of national clarinet competitions in Hungary.
In 2013 he played in the orchestra of the Sydney Opera. He was the director of Hungarian State Opera Orchestra from 2016 to 2018. He's been the CSR manager of Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra since 2019, and the director since the 1st of January 2023.
